Digital content and marketing manager

Wanaka based part time position

The digital content and marketing manager role would entail –

Websites

  • Managing and posting all content onto our two WordPress sites. This would include press releases, magazine content and general bike content provided by our contributors.
  • Creating unique online content to inform and entertain our audiences across both MTB and eMTB.
  • Optimising each web post for SEO by featuring strong keywords, alt text and incoming/outgoing links.
  • Curating inventory and processing orders for our online store – Woocommerce.

Social Media

  • Service both Instagram and Facebook accounts using content/imagery from websites, brand partners plus past and present magazines.
  • Grow our social following by running thought provoking posts or exciting competitions that promote potential audience members to like and engage with the accounts.
  • Convert our social following into paying customers by promoting the magazines, subscriptions and products we sell on our webstore.

Email Marketing

  • Build and distribute EDM’s to our subscriber database to drive traffic to the sites and store.
  • Build anticipation around magazine drops and big media releases through engaging and interesting email marketing.

Communications

  • Reply to our customer service enquires across email and social platforms
  • Communicate with contributors to gather content for websites and magazines.
  • Find interesting stories from the New Zealand bike industry to showcase to our audience through our print and digital platforms.
  • Write interesting and informative articles from the perspective of someone working within the mountain bike industry.

Perks

  • Travel to mountain bike destinations around the New Zealand to ride their trails and experience what they have on offer.

Applicants will need –

  • Strong computer skills with experience in website use ideally WordPress
  • Sound social media knowledge – posting, advert creation, analytics
  • Basic understanding of direct email marketing via services such as Mailchimp
  • Keen interest in mountain biking
  • Ability to write to a reasonable level of competency.

Currently the position is part time (20-24hrs p/w) and is relatively flexible on days and hours worked per week. Depending on the successful candidate there may be an option to look at a full time position after a trial period.

N.B. This role is based out of our Wanaka office

Editor
Part time position

The editor position would mainly involve curating and editing the written content for our two print publications. The key roles would be:

Writing & Editing

  • Writing interesting and informative editorial across both magazines – including long form articles, short punchy pieces, bike & gear reviews and editor’s intro to each issue.
  • Editing submissions from contributors and providing feedback on their work.

Communications and PR

  • Working with rest of the staff to build content ideas, themes and strategies for magazines.
  • Communicating with our nationwide team of contributors to gather content for both magazines.
  • Find interesting MTB & eMTB stories from around New Zealand.

Social media and digital

  • Ability to post articles onto our wordpress sites and social media.
  • Write dedicated digital content for web.

Perks

Applicants will need –

  • Excellent copy writing skills and experience across different styles of writing  e.g. creative, press releases, interviews, destinations, etc.
  • Competent copy editing skills
  • Strong organisational and computer skills
  • WordPress experience would be helpful.

This position is part time – approx 15hrs p/w and is very flexible on days and hours worked. The cyclic nature of publishing means work can be slow for a few weeks after a deadline then ramp up again sharply as print deadlines approach.

This role could be done remotely from anywhere in New Zealand.
